Simplot produces over a dozen different crops including anything from corn and potatoes to hay and grass seed. In just Idaho, Oregon and Washington Simplot owns over 30 different farms.  From the farm, crops are dispersed and sold to a variety of costumers who use the crops for "private-label food products."  While some of the crops and vegetables go to other customers, part of it also goes to feed the cattle.

The genius behind Simplot's cattle feeding and ranching is resource optimization.  Simplot utilizes its plentiful feedlot resources by taking on a custom feeding concept.  The custom feeding concept allows paying ranchers to bring their cattle to the farms and let Simplot feed and take care of their livestock.  This not only helps local ranchers but also optimizes Simplot's resources.
